Some will read that title and quickly go do something else. I must admit I felt that way often in the past, but I am slowly reading and learning about ways to bring school planning into everyday activities at school so it isn't seen as such a daunting task. Working through Mb and Ont documents along with Dr. Kirks class as shown me that there is so much more to the plan than just the MB document. I have also discovered that it is not about reinventing the wheel, but rather using devices and data already within our reach.
I have grown so much in this area already in this course, and look forward to seeing where I end up with the final planning project I have underway.

Ugh...you are so right. If I had a dollar for every teacher who has groaned or rolled their eyes when I mentioned my passion for school planning, I'd be a rich woman! But honestly, I find it exciting. Planning, in my opinion, holds all of the potential possibilities for education - If you can dream it, you can make it happen. Talk to you soon! JK
ReplyDeleteYour attitude is fresh Krista! I hope I can take what we have learned and get everyone excited about school planning. Right now, my team is all about not being a part of it...that is what they were used to before. This year I have included my staff with many parts of the school plan...this year's budget is the first budget my staff has ever seen! I've a few mountains to climb, but I am all about getting my school running through shared leadership.
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Sheri, your comment about your budget is interesting, something I might try this spring. As for School Planning, Krista, I don't find it boring in the sense that at the beginning of every school year I have a chance to make a positive change to the school with my staff. It's the same excitement as I had every fall when being full time in the classroom. It's the paperwork that I find boring!
ReplyDeleteI hope to be involved more in our school planning. I'm still dipping my toe in the pool, reluctant to get wet. Tech is my symbolic toe I guess. How do you get your staff to be excited about planning?
ReplyDeleteIt is a challenge every year, but trying to infuse it into everything we do as opposed to one day dedicated to it is one of the strategies I am trying. The hopefully people will be planning and not even know it. We will see.
ReplyDeleteKrista, I have been following your blog and feel honoured that you feel my opinions are worth your time. I have not posted a response before but felt compelled to say that I appreciate your comment about on-going planning. Planning is a verb - a dynamic process - not a 'kodak moment' in time. I look forward to working with you on the planning process next year.
